Hi tumblr friends! I know it’s still 99 days until my wedding, but I decided to snatch up the LAST available version of my soon-to-be-married-name today. You can now reference me as @steph_haworth. Whoa. WEIRD!
I’ve been reading a TON of HiP Paris recently to prepare myself for my Parisian honeymoon (well, two days in London then 9 days in the city of lights!). It really got me thinking that I’d like to look the part of a stylish Parisienne. I know that buying an entire wardrobe for one trip is crazy, so I’m planning to make the most with what I have and buy a few key pieces to really round out my looks. I have this dream that I will walk the streets looking like a sophisticated Parisienne, sipping wine, and seeming to be endlessly fascinating — at least until people realize I can only say bonjour and count to 10 in French. Don’t scoff! I’m planning on taking a crash course via some iPhone apps. In any case, I’ve compiled some inspiration boards to get me into the mindset (and the closet) of a Parisienne.
London to Paris. I want to stay comfortable and casual on the train as we traverse the countryside of Kent, but look polished enough to make my way through the Paris streets without looking too out of place.
I’ve recently become educated about the art of the stroll in Paris. One American living in Paris wrote that the fast walk (which I am very guilty of) is a dead giveaway of being a foreigner — and also keeps you from enjoying the sights! I want to dress comfy in ever-so-popular gladiator sandals (apparently they are still fashionable in Paris) and of course stripes. Apparently stripes are not a cliché.
One thing I didn’t know about Paris was how unpredictable the weather is. Most Parisiennes are used to the fact that it could rain anytime. The morning weather forecast might say it’s sunny while it’s raining outside! For this reason, I’m thinking about bringing some rainy day essentials (or at least some pieces that could do double duty!).
